Kibu Named One of Dezeen's Best Designs of 2025
What a way to end the year! Kibu has been chosen as one of Dezeen's best designs of 2025, picked by the magazine's editor Tom Ravenscroft as a standout product from the past twelve months.
For those who might not know, Dezeen is one of the world's most influential design magazines. Each year, their editors look back at thousands of products, buildings, and ideas to pick the very best. To be included on that list feels like a wonderful pat on the back for everything Kibu stands for.
What the Editor Said
Tom Ravenscroft chose Kibu for a beautifully simple reason—he's got children who love to build things, take them apart, and put them back together again. He saw straight away why headphones that snap together without screws or glue would be perfect for curious hands.
Here's what he wrote:
"With several kids that like to construct and deconstruct everything, the attraction of the Kibu headphones, which are designed to be built and repaired by kids themselves, was immediately clear. Each of the headphones' interchangeable parts are made from recycled bioplastic that snap together without screws or glue. The winner of the sustainable design of the year at the 2025 Dezeen Awards, the headphones introduce children to the ideals of sustainability and circularity, and, importantly, do it in a fun way!"
That last bit means the world to us. Fun is right at the heart of what Kibu is about. We believe that learning to care for our planet shouldn't feel like homework. It should feel like play.
A Year to Remember
Being named one of Dezeen's best designs comes on top of winning their Sustainable Design of the Year award earlier in 2025. It's been quite a journey, and we're so grateful to everyone who has been part of it—the families who've welcomed Kibu into their homes, the children who've clicked those colourful parts together, and everyone who believes that good design can make the world a little bit better.
Why This Matters
When a magazine like Dezeen shines a light on something, it helps spread the word far and wide. More families will discover that there's a different way to think about the things we buy—especially the gadgets our children use every day. Products don't have to be sealed shut and thrown away when they break. They can be opened up, understood, fixed, and loved for longer.
Every time a child builds their own Kibu headphones, they're learning something important: that they have the power to make, mend, and make good choices for the planet. That's a lesson worth sharing.
Thank You
To everyone who has supported Kibu this year—thank you from all of us. Here's to more building, more fixing, more listening, and more fun in the year ahead.
